NEW PLAY AREA AT STANBRIDGE AND TILSWORTH REC GROUND
A village play area has been given a fresh new look, with brand-new equipment now open at Stanbridge and Tilsworth Recreation Ground for local families to enjoy.
Local MP Alex Mayer joined Tilsworth Parish Council Clerk Julie Martin to see the new and improved playground following a community-backed revamp.
The refreshed site includes new swings, slides and other play equipment, installed by construction firm Elevate Play.
It’s thanks to a big effort from Tilsworth Parish Council. With a £25,000 government cash injection, along with further funding from Tilsworth Parish Council and the Stanbridge and Tilsworth Community Association the upgrade is now being enjoyed by local families.
Extra donations from local groups, including Tilsworth Church Parochial Church Council, Tilsworth Charities and the local social group the Tillie Girls additionally helped pay for a new rope bridge and monkey bars. Generous donations from local residents and businesses also helped to reach
the funding targets.
Cash has also been set aside for a new bench, to be installed later this summer.
Tilsworth Parish Council Clerk Julie Martin said: “We wanted to create something a bit more exciting that children would really love. Winning the full £25,000 grant, alongside brilliant local support, has allowed us to deliver a fantastic new facility for the village.”

Alex Mayer MP added: “This is a real boost for local families. It’s great to see the play area refreshed and ready to be enjoyed. It’s exactly the kind of investment that makes a real difference locally. Well done to
Tilsworth Parish Council.”
The new playground follows the recent revamp of the neighbouring tennis courts, which now include both tennis and pickleball courts.
Stanbridge and Tilsworth Rec is free to use and open daily.
