Remembrance Sunday 2026 in Leighton Buzzard and Linslade

Remembrance Sunday 2026 in Leighton Buzzard and Linslade

Communities across Leighton Buzzard and Linslade will come together on Sunday 8 November 2026 to remember those who have lost their lives in conflict and pay tribute to the men and women who have served, and continue to serve, in the Armed Forces.

The annual Remembrance Sunday parade and services are an important part of the town’s calendar, bringing together veterans, local organisations, families and residents for a shared moment of reflection.

Remembrance Sunday Parade in Leighton Buzzard

The traditional parade will leave Lake Street and make its way through Leighton Buzzard town centre to the War Memorial in Church Square.

The Act of Commemoration will begin at 10.55am, followed by the national two-minute silence at 11am.

Wreaths will be laid at the War Memorial in memory of those who gave their lives, before a Remembrance service takes place inside All Saints Church.

The Bedfordshire Band of the Royal British Legion will provide music in Church Square and during the church service.

Residents are welcome to gather in Church Square to take part in the commemorations.

Remembrance in Linslade

Linslade will also hold its own Act of Remembrance on Sunday 8 November at the Garden of Remembrance in Mentmore Road.

The ceremony, which follows the morning commemorations in Leighton Buzzard, provides another opportunity for residents to pay their respects, with wreaths laid at the Linslade War Memorial.

The precise time for this year’s Linslade ceremony has yet to be confirmed. In previous years it has been around 12.45pm

Armistice Day – Wednesday 11 November

Remembrance continues on Wednesday 11 November, marking the anniversary of the end of the First World War in 1918.

The annual Schools Remembrance Service will take place in Church Square, Leighton Buzzard, at 11am, with music provided by the Bedfordshire Band of the Royal British Legion.

The service gives local schoolchildren an opportunity to take part in the act of remembrance and reflect on its significance for future generations.

Poppies and Remembrance around the town

In the weeks leading up to Remembrance Sunday, the familiar red poppy will once again become a symbol of remembrance across the country as the Royal British Legion’s annual Poppy Appeal raises funds to support the Armed Forces community.

Locally, the Poppy Prom takes place at All Saints Church on Saturday 17 October at 7pm, marking the launch of this year’s appeal in Leighton-Linslade.

The evening features music from the Bedfordshire Band of the Royal British Legion and Chanteuses, alongside a Parade of Standards and an Act of Remembrance.

Tickets are £12 for adults and £8 for under-16s and can be booked through TryBooking.

Residents can also look out for the knitted and crocheted poppy displays which have become a much-loved feature of Leighton Buzzard and Linslade in recent years, including displays around the River Ouzel and Linslade Garden of Remembrance.

Whether attending one of the services, wearing a poppy or observing the two-minute silence, Remembrance Sunday offers an opportunity for the whole community to come together and remember.
