Central Bedfordshire Students rock the stage at Beds Band Factory!
Connolly Hall at Redborne Upper School came alive on Thursday (12 February) as the Beds Band Factory kicked off in full swing! Organised by Inspiring Music, Central Bedfordshire Council’s music service, the event was a celebration of talent, with an evening of high-voltage performances!
The stage was packed with student bands from Redborne Upper School, Cedars Upper School, Henlow Academy, Alameda Middle School, and Woodland Middle School, all bringing their A-game in front of excited peers, families, and expert judges.
The bands performed songs across rock, punk, pop, and alternative genres, with judges providing feedback on musicality and performance.
After an evening of electrifying music, two bands stole the spotlight. Dead Signal from Cedars Upper School won £400 for their school’s music department, donated by TT Rockstar, following their performances of Teenage Dirtbag by Wheatus and Bonzo Goes to Bitburg by The Ramones.
And The Husky Tones from Alameda Middle School, who performed Paranoid by Black Sabbath and Jump by Van Halen, were awarded a digital piano donated by Kawai.
Councillor Gareth Mackey, Executive Member for Children’s Services at Central Bedfordshire Council, said: “Beds Band Factory provides young musicians with a valuable opportunity to perform and collaborate with their peers. The event is a strong example of what high-quality music education can achieve, helping students build confidence and teamwork.
“We are grateful to Inspiring Music, school staff, and partners for making it possible, and especially to Redborne’s Tech Crew – spanning Years 9 to 13 – for their work behind the scenes to support all the performances.”
Inspiring Music is now preparing for the Beds Band Blast-Off on Wednesday 4 March. For the first time, heats will be held, with three bands progressing to the regional BLMK Battle of the Bands on Thursday 19 March.
