Electric cars, e-bikes and energy savings: Free event comes to Leighton Buzzard
Residents and local businesses can get behind the wheel of an electric car, explore e-bikes and discover ways to cut energy bills at a free green living event in Leighton Buzzard this October.
Central Bedfordshire Council is bringing together electric vehicles, charging, energy and renewables in Leighton Buzzard Market Square on Friday 2 October, from 10am to 3pm, for its Be Green Go Electric event.
Visitors will be able to see and sit in the latest electric vehicles, meet local car dealerships and take test drives, as well as find out more about charging at home and in public places.
The free event will also allow residents and local businesses to explore e-bikes and get practical advice on solar panels, heat pumps, grant funding, improving energy efficiency and reducing organisational carbon emissions.
With a range of businesses, organisations and experts on hand, residents and local businesses can ask questions and find out what could work for them – whether they are considering making a change now or simply want to understand what is available.
The informal drop-in event is being run in partnership with Let’s Experience Electric, with support from Leighton-Linslade Town Council and Energy Saving Trust.
Cllr Tracey Wye, Executive Member for Sustainability and Climate Change said:
“There is a constant feed of information about ‘going electric’, and it’s easy to get overwhelmed by the different choices, what would suit your situation, and if there is or isn’t funding available.
“The Be Green Go Electric event offers people the chance to get impartial advice and explore potential ways to live more sustainably and save money in ways that are practical, accessible and achievable.
“Whether you’re thinking about buying an electric car, want to see what an e-bike is like, are considering installing a heat pump or solar panels, or simply want to find out how you could make your home or business more energy efficient, there will be experts on hand to answer your questions.
“Most importantly, visitors can see some of the technology for themselves, get honest advice and even take an electric car for a test drive. We want people to leave with useful information and a better idea of what could work for them.”
Be Green Go Electric is free to attend and open to everyone. Registration is encouraged to help manage visitor numbers and interest in test drives, but residents can drop in at any time during the event.
