CATS Returns to Milton Keynes in 2027

One of the world’s most successful musicals is heading to Milton Keynes Theatre next year, and fans are being encouraged to book early.

A brand-new production of CATS will arrive at Milton Keynes Theatre from 1–5 June 2027 as part of a major new UK tour following a summer run at London’s Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre.

Based on T.S. Eliot’s Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats, the musical features some of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s best-loved songs, including Memory, Macavity: The Mystery Cat and Jellicle Ball.

Since premiering in London in 1981, CATS has become one of the most successful musicals ever staged. It has been performed in more than 50 countries, translated into over 20 languages and seen by millions of theatre-goers around the world.

The new production is being directed and choreographed by Drew McOnie, whose previous work includes acclaimed productions of Jesus Christ Superstar and Brigadoon.

Andrew Lloyd Webber said he is excited to see a completely new interpretation of the musical, describing McOnie as the ideal person to bring a fresh vision to the much-loved show.

Although the Milton Keynes performances are still almost a year away, demand is expected to be high. Theatre fans who have fond memories of the original production – or those wanting to introduce a new generation to the Jellicle Cats – may wish to secure tickets sooner rather than later.

CATS runs at Milton Keynes Theatre from Tuesday 1 to Saturday 5 June 2027.
