Crafting in the Leighton Buzzard area

The Leighton Buzzard area is absolutely packed to the rafters with creativity, workshops and crafting. Here’s a run down of some of our favourites

Creative Buzz

Firstly if you are a maker or creative then there is a social group for you. Creative Buzz hold meet ups, workshops and support for like-minded people and on Saturday 11th May they hosted the Makers Market in association with Leighton Linslade Town Council. Join their group on Facebook or follow on Instagram @creativebuzz_lb to find out how to join.


Happydashery – The Workshop at No 19

The Workshop at No 19 is a crafters dream. Operated by the Happydashery shop in Leighton Buzzard High Street there is crafting galore from crochet, origami, bookbinding, Jesmonite crafts, ceramic painting, embroidery, candle painting and more. They also offer crafting drop in sessions to work on your own projects which is a great way to get to know fellow crafters.


Ali’s Paper

The lovely lady at Ali’s Paper is a skilled bookbinder and as well as her online shop she runs workshops in bookbinding as well as other papercrafts (including for children). You can learn to make your own hardcover notebook with saddle stitching or perhaps an A4 folder as pictured.


Loobi Crafts

If you love paper, decoupage, stamps, stencils, die-cuts and all things scrapbooks and beyond then you will be in Loobi Craft heaven. As well as a physical shop (in Ryland Mews, Leighton Buzzard) and online shop they run regular workshops with guest tutors to take your makes to the next level.


Kate Radford Pottery

Kate runs courses where you can learn how to throw a pot, sculpt in clay, use moulds or build by hand. There are also taster sessions, gift cards and you can also book experiences for hen or children’s parties or other groups. Kate is based in Kensworth just outside Dunstable.


Anna Conti Stained Glass

Attracted to dappled light shining through beautiful colours and stained glass is for you. In an Anna Conti workshop you can make your own beautiful stained glass panel or mirror (hanging, standing or to fit) and learn the art of traditional stained glass work. An array of coloured and textured glass will be available to make your own individual abstract panel. Anna will show you how to cut glass, ‘lead up’, solder, cement and if you wish, install your panel. Plan ahead as classes are booked well in advance


Woolly Knits

Situated in the quaint Peacock Mews in Leighton Buzzard Woolly Knits shop is a great for supplies but they also offer knitting, crocheting and needle felting workshops.


Tuuli Parker Jewellery

A little further afield but well worth a mention, Tuuli is based in Hitchin and specialises in silver clay jewellery. This fascinating craft uses silver clay to mould and design your own bespoke jewellery before firing transforms it into solid silver.


Jude Karnon Jewellery

Back in Leighton Buzzard and Jude offers workshops for 1 to 2 people in jewellery making. One of her specialities is making your own wedding rings but she also does spinning rings, sea glass jewellery, bangles, stacking rings and much more


Adrienne’s Flowers

From hand tied bouquets, wreaths to seasonal arrangements Adrienne’s Flowers offer beautiful flower arranging workshops at the shop in Ropa Court in Leighton Buzzard


Bransfield Glass

Heading just past Waddesdon to the village of Westcott Bransfield Glass offer workshops in glass-blowing. An ancient art that has changed very little since Roman times you can book half day taster sessions or full glassblowing day, in which you’ll learn the basic skills and use them to make a blown piece of glass, such as a vase.


Support Local Crafters

The Leighton Buzzard area is packed with skilled crafters selling their wares at the regular Handmade and Craft Market which is on Leighton Buzzard High Street every Fourth Saturday from March to December. A chance to buy unique gifts and learn about more crafters in the amazing Leighton Buzzard area.
