Earthquake Poem Jolts Leighton Buzzard

THE LEIGHTON BUZZARD JOLT

It seems in California                 

because of geology,                 

they have their share of earthquakes                 

with evidence for everyone too see.                 

Now here in Leighton Buzzard                 

there’s no sign for certain sure,                 

but in the month of September                 

we’ve just had number four.                 

Now on the west coast of America                 

there’s the san andreas fault,                 

but over here in Bedfordshire                 

it’s the Leighton Buzzard jolt!!                 

Some people take no notice                 

others are full of fright,                 

but mother-earth just does her thing                 

with sticks of dynamite.                 

Am I going simple                 

or is my knowledge lacking,                 

perhaps there’s someone out there                 

doing a bit of fracking.                 

I’m going to sit in my garden                 

with a glass of single malt                 

enjoy the September sunshine                 

await the next Leighton Buzzard jolt.
