5 Beaches near Leighton Buzzard (real or otherwise).

We are stretching the definition of beach just a little to include splash parks and artificial beaches but you will also find a couple of real beach trips too. but if you Summer get away, got away or is a distant memory here are some local ideas.

Parsons Green Splash Park

Right on our doorstep in Leighton Buzzard Facilities Open Times

The Beach is open daily 10am-4.30pm Monday to Friday and 10am-5pm Satuday and Sunday

The Splash and Play facility is open daily, 10am-4.30pm Monday to Friday and 10am – 5pm Saturday and Sunday throughout the summer months.

Toilets are open daily 10am-4.30pm weekdays and 10am-5pm weekends during the summer months (subject to availability). The changing places toilet can be accessed using a radar key.

The Centre MK: Indoor Beach

Boasting biggest indoor beach in the UK it is free to enter and play. ‘The Beach’ this year has brought in all the wonderful classics you’d hope to find at the great British seaside including free Punch & Judy shows, face painting as well as deckchairs and seating areas for families and children to play in the sand and soak up the atmosphere. There are also bungees, train rides and even an indoor rollercoaster plus pop-up stalls from the centre’s retailers to add to the fun.

Although it is free to enter and play some of the attractions cost extra which we’ve listed below

Bennett’s Splash Park and Cafe

Our neighbours in Dunstable have Bennett’s Meadow Splash Park which is free to play.
Enjoy the 16 super soaking water features ranging from gentle mists, spray arches and tipping buckets to spray shooter cannons. The Splash Park is designed to be enjoyed by children of all ages from 2 years to 10 years. The park has other play facilities too.

Please note, the Splash Park will have 10 minute intervals where the water will stop to ensure water safety quality checks, why not take this opportunity to refresh at the Splashside Cafe.

The Splashside Café adjacent to the Splash Park offers an array of food and drinks for all to enjoy such as freshly prepared milkshakes, delicious pizzas, classic fish finger bap and much more! Please note, last orders are 5.30 pm

Parking around the park is quite restricted so be prepared to park and pay at the back of Ashton Square which is only a short walk away.

Walton-on-the-Naze

Walton-on-the-Naze is a family seaside resort with sandy beaches, seafront gardens, quaint narrow streets and fossil hunting. The pier is the second longest in England, offering fairground rides, ten pin bowling and sea angling. Just to the north is The Naze, an unspoilt headland of heath, saltmarshes and sandy beaches. Masons Coaches are doing a day trip on 25th August. Costing £28pp for an adult and £25 for under 16s. Pick up is in Leighton Buzzard with arrival around 11.30 and departure at 5.30pm See the Masons website for more details and booking. Driving yourself takes around 2hrs 40 mins which is similar to most of the beaches on the East Coast such as Hunstanton, Clacton-on-Sea, Southend.

Cotswold Water Park, Gloucester

Promising a journey time of under 2 hours by car (as you know this can be subject to all many variables) Sink your toes into the sand as you dig, build and strengthen epic family castles. This wonderful day out for you awaits with the Main Beach Swimming and Paddling Lagoon – bring those trunks, buckets & spades. For those with smaller toes, the Mini Children’s Beach Lagoon is the place to play. Access to the beach and swimming lagoon is included in standard entry tickets. Kids will love the adventure playgrounds & situated right by our beach. For extra cost there is an Aqua Park, mini golf, kayaks, boats and pedal carts. Worth planning a full day out in advance.

Prebook Admission to guarantee entry and access to the Park & Beach! It is very popular some days, so advise arriving early if you wish to have a specific spot on the beach. It isn’t free but for £18 for a car with up to 5 people it gives you free access to the lakes, beach and park.
